How Do I Prepare My Property for Tent Fumigation?
Tenting your property for drywood tent fumigation may seem daunting, but with proper preparations it is not as bad as it seems. Upon agreement of the tenting procedure, we guide you through the preparation process. Prior to the fumigation date, you may need to prepare the exterior of your property for tenting. Exterior preparations might include removing any large items (e.g., boulders, wood piles, debris, etc.) that will get in the way of a secure fit for the tents. Exterior preparations might also include cutting back any foliage or trees touching the property. Once you have your fumigation scheduled, you’ll need to make arrangements for you and your pets to be out of the property for a minimum of 24 hours. If we are also treating for bed bugs and/or powder post beetles, the tenting process will take up to three days. You will be provided with plastic bags to bag up all perishable food items, as well as pet foods and medicines. On the day of fumigation, open all interior doors between rooms to allow for the termite treatment to spread throughout the property. Opening closet and cabinet doors is also required. You will also need to remove all indoor plants. Our customers are sometimes home to meet our crew when they get to the property to begin the tenting process. If being home is not an option, then together we have made prior arrangements for all parties concerned.

How does tenting for drywood termites eliminate the infestation?
Answer:
Unlike a vault fumigation that destroys termites in a single piece of furniture or other item, tent fumigation eradicates an infestation throughout an entire structure. The tents are precisely secured around the structure to create an airtight means for safely treating the property. Once the tents are secured, a certified technician pumps gas fumigants into the tent. The amount of fumigants pumped follows all federal and state guidelines, and is monitored throughout the treatment period with the use of monitors left in the structure prior to closing up the tents. The monitors ensure that gas levels are sufficient throughout the tenting process to completely destroy the termite infestation. Our crew post warning signs around the perimeter of the structure, and those signs remain posted until the tents are officially removed.
Do I really need to tent my entire home for drywood termites?
Answer:
Tenting a property for drywood termites is inconvenient and unpleasant for many. To fully understand if a structural tenting is required or if localized treatments will eliminate your termite challenges, please call your professional pest control company. Most pest control companies provide free inspections, and can better assess what your property may need.
Do I have to wash dishes or clothes after the fumigation process?
Answer:
The gas fumigant we use to eliminate termite infestations is called Vikane. Vikane gas does not stick to surfaces due to its non-residual properties. So the simple answer is no, you do not need to wash dishes or clothes after the fumigation process. We have many customers, though, that wash their dishes just for their own peace of mind

The cost of fumigating a property for drywood infestations is based on a number of factors: Cubic footage, location, number of stories on the structure, and obstructions around the structure or on the roof that will impede the tenting process.
